Green light for George Groves to appear in delayed Super series final.
The ongoing saga regarding the Muhammad Ali Trophy Super-Middleweight Final between George Groves and Callum Smith has finally been put to bed, and will go ahead later this summer with the currently injured Groves being granted his well earned place.
Contrary to some very premature hearsay on social media about the Hammersmith fighter being replaced by Chris Eubank Jr, Comosa AG and Kallie Sauerland officially announced that the World Boxing Super Series will be delaying until late August or early September thus allowing Groves adequate time to recover and rightfully take part in the grand conclusion of the groundbreaking tourney.
The WBA Super Champion (28-3, 20KOs) suffered a dislocation of his shoulder in the final round of his victory over Chris Eubank Jr in February. There had been an original deadline imposed by Comosa AG to complete the competition by late July, but after many inside discussions and reception to public demand it has been decided that a postponement was the popular arrangement..
On the opposite side of the table to Groves, the final now signals WBC Diamond Champion, Callum Smith's (24-0 17 Ko’s) first shot at a world championship, having Patiently sat in mandatory positions numerous times over the last couple of years.. it’s a fabulous night for both men and for British boxing with two of its own fighters in different career positions battling for such a prestigious award..

Broner goes public to expose Hearn ‘Slave offer’
Controversial four weight champion, Adrien Broner has recently taken to his Instagram page in an attempt to expose the terms of a $6.5 million, triple fight offer from promoter Eddie Hearn. Broner claimed that Hearn offered him a worse deal than an previous rebuffed offer from Roc Nation, made several years ago.. Broner attached the hashtag #SlaveDeal to his outspoken post followed by five insulting emojis. The problem with the situation is this.. Several years ago Broner looked a future all time great in the making with the increasing potential to emulate Floyd Mayweather as a financially affluent champion.. Unfortunately over the last 5 years, cracks appeared in not only his fighting potential, but his personal behaviour.. Broner flopped in a series of important bouts and has since struggled to regain momentum.. Adrien is currently coming off a loss to Mikey Garcia and a draw with Jessie Vargas, along with a disappointing outing with Adrian Granados and weight failure prior to a title fight with Ashley Theophane.. If Broner actually put his ego aside and looked closer at the offer, he’d realise that in consideration with his current standings, Eddie’s numbers were probably fairly accurate...
Hearn offered Broner 3 guaranteed fights with the following tier purses..
Fight 1.. $2,000,000
Fight 2.. $2,250,000
Fight 3.. $2,500,000
Hearn is looking to attach fighters to Matchroom after reaching a reported one billion dollar streaming deal with DAZN.

Lomachenko overcomes Linares in an epic.
Vasily Lomachenko continued in his quest to stake his claim as the pound for pound governor on Saturday night when he stopped WBA lightweight champion Jorge Linares in the tenth round of a highly entertaining fight at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Lomachenko (11-1, 9 KOs) notched up the win as many predicted, but was forced to go above and beyond in a competitive duel, climbing off the floor from a sixth-round flash knockdown and surviving some gut check moments late in the bout before demoralising the physically imposing Linares.
Jorge (44-4, 27 KO’s), cruising on a 13 fight, 6 year unbeaten run showed immense character throughout the gruelling battle, overcoming huge hurdles and firing back.. Regardless of his competence and class, Linares found himself second best, visibly marked with a broken resolve by the time he was floored by a vicious body shot in the 10th. Although thoroughly defeated Jorge attempted to continue but was saved with 52 seconds remaining in the round.
The scores at the conclusion varied.. 86-84 Lomachenko.. 86-84 Linares, with the final judge scoring the bout even at 85-85.
The scores reflected the back and forth nature of the battle that will go down as possibly the highlight of the years action..
Linares did dictate his own fair share of the early rounds and managed the surprise knockdown, with a straight right hand in the last minute of the sixth, giving Lomachenko the rarest of occasions to climb off the floor. The Ukrainian overcame the glitch and battled back with accurate shots to both head and body, bloodying the champions nose.. Linares persisted to offer resistance into the ninth, connecting with stiff left hooks and fast combinations, keeping Lomachenko occupied.. Lomachenko found the final breakthrough in the tenth, connected with a series of clean uppercuts before dropping Linares with a beautiful left to the body, forcing the stoppage at the 2:08 mark.
Hughie Fury picks up the British heavyweight title with impressive stoppage of Sam Sexton in Bolton.
In what was possibly the most impressive performance of his career, 23 year old Hughie Fury captured the British heavyweight championship on Saturday night with a 5th round knockout of Sam Sexton at the De Vere Whites Hotel in Bolton.. Sexton, making a first defence of the title he picked up in his third ask last October by out hustling Gary Cornish, appeared to be struggling with Fury’s long range control of the action early in the fight, clumsily rushing forward in an attempt to unsettle the challenger.. The recently deposed WBO title challenger stuck to task and continued behind a long jab, accompanied with plenty of movement and unpredictable feints, luring the vastly experienced Norwich man to take risks.. It took roughly 3 rounds before Sexton began to roll the dice, only to be old manned and smothered by the calculated youngster.. In round four Fury served notice to all who critiqued his feather duster approach to the Parker fight by unleashing a vicious right hand that rocked Sexton badly, as he rocked back into the ropes, pulling away from a follow up right hand he had nowhere to go to escape the barrage, but to suffer a knockdown.. Upon rising Sam offered a clap of appreciation towards Fury, who was hardly in a playful mood.. Sexton weathered the round.. Midway into the 5th Sexton looked to try pull the fight into close quarters, rushing past the Fury reach, but with a minute left in the round, Sexton lunged towards Fury in the corner, but walked straight onto a beautifully timed right hand that was barely visible at first glance, the shot had every ounce of torque on it from such an obscure position, and left Sam scrambling on the Matt again. Sexton beat the count but appeared jittery upon rising and was stopped on his feet at the 2:03 second mark of the round.. Hughie finally stepping out of his cousins shadow and paving his own direction in the division.. Incidentally Tyson wasn't in attendance amidst rumours of unrest within the family.. Hughie offered generous words towards his father Peter whom he credited with the evenings accomplishment.. But went on to state "I'm in no ones shadow now, I'm my own man.." Fury is 23 years old, has already competed at the highest level for world honours and picked up a Lonsdale belt, he's maturing into a capable fighter and in time will be a force.. Peter above everyone knows though, that he must move his son carefully with hints on even relinquishing the belt having only just picked it up.. "We want to move back onto the world scene, he's a world class operator and if he wouldn't have done a job on Sexton tonight, who with no discredit is a domestic fighter, we shouldn't have been even contemplating bigger things.."
A great move would possibly be a meeting with European champion Agit Kabayel, a winnable fight with another must have bargaining tool on the line, regardless, Hughie served notice to Whyte, Dubois, Price or anyone who lays claim as a domestic threat, that he is the man who means business..
