Martin Bakole returns spectacularly to stop Mariusz Wach in 8.
Tonight at the Spodek Events Center in Katowice, Poland, Scottish based Congolese heavyweight, Martin Bakole 11-1 (8 Ko’s) returned from defeat and injury in his October bout with Michael Hunter to pull off an impressive stoppage of former world title challenger Mariusz Wach 33-4 (17 Ko’s). The fight swung both ways with the huge Pole making things awkward for Bakole in the early rounds.. Bakole did manage to get the better of the quality exchanges in the middle rounds as Wach began to labour.. After round 6, it did appear that Bakole was in complete control, landing clusters of what seemed to be effortless punches on several occasions.. Wach stood fast and attempted to return fire with sneaky counters, but Martin looked too sharp to be denied on this night.. Bakole spent the first half of the 8th round setting Wach up, and making the pedestrian fighter use his legs, until with 37 seconds left in the session, Bakole put together a rally of 14 unanswered shots that coerced the referee to intervene and call a halt.. An impressive return to the ring following such a disappointing and anti climatic night last October.. Bakole looked a far more prepared fighter tonight and showed that he really is one to be respected.. The 8th round TKO victory earns Bakole the Polish International Heavyweight title, for all that its worth..
What did the boxer say when he won the Polish Heavyweight Championship Belt. "Hey none of my pants have loops big enough for that belt to go through".
