In what could be considered an upset, 43 year old former martial arts champion John Wayne Parr 11-3 (10 KOs), a boxer who had remained inactive in over 16 years managed to score a 10 round split decision win over former world champion Anthony Mundine 48-10 (28 KOs) on Saturday night in Brisbane.. The fight itself was highly entertaining with too and fro action throughout.. Parr had Mundine on the floor in the 4th but was hurt on several occasions himself.. Mundine was deducted a point in the 8th for rabbit punching and had to make a late attempt to play catch-up on the scorecards..
The Scoring after 10 was 96-93, 95-93 for Parr and 95-94 Mundine, with the point dedication proving crucial..
