Davis stops brave Gamboa in Atlanta, picks up Vacant WBA title.

In a fight for the vacant WBA lightweight Championship, Gervonta Davis 23-0 (22 KOs) scored a final round KO over Yuriorkis Gamboa 30-3 (18 KOs) on Saturday night after dominating the injured veteran for the majority of the proceedings at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
Davis set a high tempo and had Gamboa on the canvas as early as the second..
It soon became apparent that Gamboa had picked up an ankle injury in the process of the knockdown.. Yuriorkis battled through the handicap but found the job an uphill struggle.. Davis enjoyed a dominant 5th round then went on to put Gamboa on the floor a second time in round 8.. The trailing Cuban hung in there against some heavy fire and rolled the dice in the twelfth, slugging it out only to find himself on the wrong end, knocked down and stopped at 1:17 of the session..
