Pascal edges Jack, retains WBA title in Atlanta.
WBA light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal 35-6-1 (20 KOs) retained his title by way of a twelve round split verdict against a game Badou Jack 22-3-3 (13 KOs) on Saturday night at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
In an enthralling fight that contained back and forth exchanges, many ringsiders found it hard to split the pair at the final bell.. Pascal pressed the action at a fast pace, dictation the best part of the early action. Jean hurt and dropped Jack with an overhand right in the fourth but was prevented from capitalising by the bell.. The action became more laboured towards the middle rounds, with Badou finding his range with short combinations.. In the final round Jack did spring to action dropping the champion with a cluster of right hands, in what appeared to be his signature to victory.. Unfortunately ringside officials had Pascal ahead with scores of 114-112 for Jack, 114-112, 114-112 for Pascal.
