In was revealed earlier today that the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association informed Matchroom boxing along with the World Boxing Council and the British Boxing Board of Control that WBC interim world flyweight champion Francisco Rodriguez has returned an adverse analytical finding as part of a post-fight night anti drug test following his bout with Galal Yafai 2 weeks ago. The issue will be handled competently by the BBBofC and the WBC. Rodriguez 40-6 (28 KOs) appeared to spring upset over the previously unbeaten Yafai 9-1 (7 KOs) by a convincing unanimous margin to claim the interim WBC title. It’s highly likely that Rodriguez will be stripped if an adverse finding is evident and Yafai offered the opportunity to redeem the sole defeat.
