Bellew heads huge Goodison card May 29th.

It's 67 years since Liverpool has hosted a stadium fight, but come May 29th Evertons Goodison park will put an end to that record, and stage one of the biggest boxing nights in the city's history..   Lifetime staunch Evertonian, Tony Bellew will head the cast in an attempt to capture a world championship at the third attempt..  Tony will take on tough unbeaten Ilunga Makubu for the vacant WBC cruiserweight title..  
Ilunga Makubu is Unbeaten in 19 with 18 knockouts and is the number one cruiserweight in the WBC rankings, the awkward southpaw is a known puncher and it's a huge task at hand for two time world title challenger Bellew,  but it's a fitting fairytale setting for the Liverpool fighter to finally become a champion.. Bellew (26-2-1, 16 KOs) is up for the challenge on what will be an emotional night for him, a shot at a title in front of his home fans in a stadium close to his heart...  Tony has failed in 2 previous attempts, a close loss to Nathan Cleverly in 2011 for the light heavyweight crown, a result that he avenged 3 years later up at cruiserweight, and a 2013 stoppage loss in Canada to the hard punching Adonis Stevenson..  A move up in weight in 2014 has seen 6 solid victories since the Stevenson defeat against decent opposition, the last being tough Mateusz Masternack in December..  

Also featured on the card will be the return of popular heavyweight David Price, an appearance of three of the fighting Smith brothers, Stephen, Paul and Callum all boxing overseas opponents, an appearance from the colourful lightweight Sean masher Dodd and unbeaten Commonwealth games gold medalist Scott Fitzgerald..
