Lebedev outpoints Flanagan to defend WBA Super title
The WBA cruiserweight Super champion Denis Lebedev (30-2, 22 KOs) retained his Championship on Saturday evening with a workman like unanimous decision over WBA number 6 ranked Mark Flanagan of Australia (22-4, 15 KOs) at the DIVS in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Lebedev had the challenger on the floor in the ninth with a body shot, before securing one sided Scores of 119-108, 119-108, 120-107.
This is Lebedevs first outing since losing his IBF title to Murat Gassiev last December..
Interestingly, despite being a leading light in the current cruiserweight landscape, Lebedev has made no effort to include himself in the upcoming Super Series tournament which includes every other significant fighter in the division..
