In a terrible twist of fate, tomorrow's originally scheduled WBC featherweight eliminator in Belfast between former champion Carl Frampton and Andres Gutierrez has been called off.. Cyclone Promotions, Who were staging the show revealed earlier this evening that Gutierrez had suffered an injury while falling in the shower.. Hopefully the match could be rescheduled in the near future, but Cyclone have advised ticket holders to retain their tickets and get in touch with their point of purchase source for further information.
The so called 'Return of the Jackal' first suffered a setback earlier today at the weigh in, where Frampton failed to meet the 126lb stipulated limit, removing all sanctioning for the fights WBC eliminator status.. However a victory for Gutierrez would have thrust him into position as mandatory challenger for WBC champion Gary Russell's title.
