Margarito to face Jones in Chihuahua.
In one of the most bizarre bouts of 2017, it looks like former double world champion Antonio Margarito (40-8, 27 Ko's) will make his third return to the ring, following a 5 year hiatus against veteran road warrior Carson Jones (40-11-3, 30 Ko's) at the Manuel Aguirre Gym in Chihuahua Mexico on September 2nd.. its 8 years since Margarito held a version of a world championship, losing his WBA super title to Shane Mosley back in 2009.. Since his return following 5 years out, Antonio has beaten Jorge Paez jr and Ramon Alvarez both in 2016.
The pinnacle of Jones long career was possibly his 2012 majority decision points loss to future IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, shaking up the unbeaten prospect in a taxing fight.. Jones last outing was a visit to the UK in November to upset unbeaten prospect Ben Hall for the vacant WBC international Silver super welterweight title with a 6 round Tko.
