Joshua overcomes shaky start to stop Povetkin.
WBA/IBF/WBO world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua 22-0, (21 KOs) overcame a shaky start to regain composure and score a spectacular seventh round KO over former champion Alexander Povetkin (34-2, 24 KOs) on Saturday night at Wembley stadium. Povetkin started fast, landing quick combinations early, startling Joshua.. landing a left hook that rocked the champion right at the end of the session.. By the second Joshua looked to have some nose damage. Povetkin rocked a defensive Joshua again in the second forcing the champion to hold out and concede the round.. Joshua appeared to maintain his composure as the bout progressed, whilst the 39 year old Povetkin began to labour. Anthony found his first solid breakthrough in the seventh, stunning Povetkin with a left hook, before dropped him heavily with a straight right. Povetkin showed his grit by struggling to his feet with every intention of firing back into battle, but Joshua denied him the opportunity, jumping on him with a brutal flurry that sent him over again to be rescued by referee Steve Grey..
