Samuel Peter, tentatively listed as 38 years of age is making his 4th appearance following a 3 year layoff, in which time the former Olympian boxed only 3 times in 8 years.. Peter suffered an unfortunate slip up last April when he appeared on the Shields v Hammer show, dropping a decision to the portly Mexican Mario Heredia.. Samuel won the WBC title back in 2008, stopping Oleg Maskaev in Cancun before losing it 7 months later in Kreuzberg Germany to Vitali Klitschko.
In his 24 fight career, I have notably been impressed on two occasions by Hughie Fury.. back in 2015 by his very mature performance against the once beaten Andriy Rudenko, and last year in his ruthless British title winning victory over Sam Sexton.. We have to put into perspective that this man has boxed for a World championship and won a domestic title and is still only 24 years of age.. A win over the ageing Peter may not tell us much, but it may add to the library of experience that Fury is broadening his horizons with..
