Horn dethrones Pacquiao in contentious fight.

In what appears to be the upset of the year so far, undefeated Australian challenger Jeff Horn (17-0-1, 11 KOs) scored a highly contentious twelve round unanimous decision over WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (59-7-2, 38 KOs) in front of 51,052 home supporters at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia, on Sunday afternoon..
Horn took the fight to Pacquiao in the early rounds, stealing an early points lead. The bout remained competitive, with Horn suffered a cut over his right eye. Pacquiao looked to be taking the upper hand by the sixth, figuring out the Australians style and out-landing comfortably although suffering a deep cut in his hairline by an accidental headbutt. A round later a head clash saw Pacquiao cut a second time, at a time in the fight when he appeared to be taking control.. The ninth round was a dominant one for the Filipino fighter, Pacquiao had the challenger visibly hurt and almost on the brink of defeat, so much so that between rounds, referee Mark Nelson told Horn he had to “show me something” in round ten or he would call a halt to the bout.. Horn hung in there, gallantly offering willingness to compete until the final bell.. I, like many ringsiders had it a competitive, entertaining bout, but with the champion comfortably retaining his belt. However Scores emerged astonishingly 117-111, 115-113, 115-113, all in the favour of Horn..
The Challenger boxed exceptionally, stayed busy and was always competitive.. But the cleaner and more frequent shots were all landed by Pacquiao..
Teddy Atlas commentating for ESPN commented, "You don't award the challenger the title for doing well."
Continuing
"To score this fight in the manner that in was, you've either got to be incompetent or corrupt, and I don't think anyone can possibly be that incompetent."
