Jean Claude Bouttier passes in France aged 74.


Former French and European Middleweight Champion and double world title challenger Jean Claude Bouttier, has passed away aged 74... Bouttier was a quality fighter in a remarkable era who twice challenged for the Middleweight championship unsuccessfully against the great Carlos Monzon, in times when there was literally one recognised title holder in each division, Monzon recognised Jean Claude as possibly the toughest challenger that he had faced.. Bouttier held victories over Emile Griffith, Tom Bethea and Bunny Sterling and retired from the sport with a record of 64-7-1 (43 Ko’s) Jean was held in the highest esteem in his native France almost as a national treasure, well after his years inside the ring.. Years into his retirement Jean got work as an actor and worked as a consultant and popular colour commentator for French Tv network Canal+ for close to 30 years.. Jean Claude struggled with Smoking related health issues for several years and passed following a short illness.. RIP..
