Prince Ranch Heavyweight Jonathan Rice meets Christian Mariscal in Tijuana, Saturday.

South Carolina based Heavyweight Jonathan Rice 12-4-1 (8 KOs) now based in Los Angeles meets Tijuana’s Christian Mariscal 13-3 (6 KOs) in the feature bout over 10 on Saturday evening at The Big Punch Arena in Tijuana, Mexico. The bout also has the rather insignificant WBC silver intercontinental title up for grabs.. Rice is managed by Greg Hannley, the CEO of Las Vegas based, Prince Ranch Boxing and is the only man to take 2016 Olympic gold medalist Tony Yoka to the final bell as a pro.. Rice travelled to Yoka’s backyard at the Xenith de Paris in France and made a competitive argument winning a couple of rounds over 6. Jon has won five of his last six and is eager to break into the world rankings.. Interestingly both fighters have 7 defeats between them, each loss to a currently undefeated fighter.. Rice dropping losses to Yoka, Irish prospect Con Sheehan, Arslanbek Makhmudov and Stephan Shaw.. Whilst the older Mariscal has defeats to Marcos Rodriguez, Evgeny Tishchenko and the colourful Cassius Chaney.. Despite being 39 years old, the Mexican has only been boxing for 2 and a half years, whilst 32 year old Rice has been active since 2014..
“Battle at the Border” as it has been named, is promoted by GM3 Presents and Gonzalez Boxing Promotions, The evenings boxing includes a 15 fight card with Pay on entry at the Arena, and boxing commencing around 7pm.
