Usyk steps up to Heavyweight finally on October 12th.

Finally today it was announced that undefeated former unified cruiserweight king, Oleksandr Usyk 16-0 (12 Ko’s) will make his heavyweight debut at The Wintrust Arena in Chicago on October 12th.. The opponent of choice has not yet been finalised but is expected to be over 10 rounds against a top 10 ranked heavyweight.. Usyk was scheduled to have made this highly anticipated debut back on May 25th in the very same Chicago arena, against the tough French based Cameroonian world title challenger Carlos Takam, but an unfortunate bicep injury put paid to that exercise.. Takam is still a possibility to face Usyk on the 12th, although nothing has been set in stone.. Usyk unified the cruiserweight division, cleaning house by dominating the WBSS tourney before sealing it with one final classic performance last November, knocking out Tony Bellew in Manchester England.. Usyk‘s heavyweight debut will be broadcast by Sky Sports in the United Kingdom and DAZN in the States..
